The Dynamiter (2011)

The Mississippi summer begins with fourteen-year-old Robbie Hendrick in a role he knows too well.  His wayward mother having run off again, it is up to him to care for his younger half-brother, Fess. They burn off the days together swimming and playing in the cotton fields, Robbie still hopeful as ever that his dream of a family will be realized this year. The days and nights pass, but instead of their mother returning, they find their dangerous older brother Lucas back in their lives and the threat of social services looming. Robbie begins to realize that instead of getting the family he's always wanted, he may lose the only family he's ever known.
